Fittest and Fattest Cities in America (Nice Work, Boston)

Washington, D.C., tops an annual ranking of which cities are in the best shape. So says this year's American Fitness Index report, published by the American College of Sports Medicine. It takes the biggest 50 metropolitan areas and ranks them by fitness levels.

"We are thrilled to be the fittest city in the nation for the third consecutive year," said Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty.

The 5 fittest cities in America
1. Washington, D.C.
2. Boston, Mass.
3. Minneapolis, Minn.
4. Seattle, Wash.
5. Portland, Ore.

Hey, Boston’s number 2! Congrats to Beantown for not being as fat as the rest of America.

At the other end of the spectrum is Oklahoma City, which comes in dead last among the largest metropolitan areas.

The 5 fattest cities in America
1. Oklahoma City, Okla.
2. Birmingham, Ala.
3. Memphis, Tenn.
4. Detroit, Mich.
5. Louisville, Ky.

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett is used to people saying he's from an obese city. "I'm not saying we shouldn't be last," he says. "There are issues here that are real that we're not running away from.”

Mr. Mayor, I’m afraid nobody in your city is running away from anything.

David Ortiz supplies you with the Stat of the Week

As you all know David Ortiz will not be in the line up today against the Minnesota Twins. This statistically, specifically must of caught Terry Francona's eye:

44% of the time David Ortiz swings at a pitch he misses. The league average is 20%.

Lupe Drop's New Joint From Lasers @ House Of Blues Boston

Here's a new track from Lasers which Lupe performs at House of Blues in Boston. I do not mind the whole "rock" imagine Lupe is trying to portray lately, I just hope he has a diverse set on his upcoming album and doesn't try to be an all out rock star like Weezy's Rebirth.

FU Joe West

"They're the two clubs that don't try to pick up the pace," said West, the chief of the umpiring crew working the three-game series, according to the report. "They're two of the best teams in baseball. Why are they playing the slowest? During Tuesday night's game, home plate umpire Angel Hernandez denied a number of requested timeouts in the batter's box. West did not allow Hernandez to comment, according to the report. "All of baseball looks to these two clubs to pick up the pace," West said, according to the report. "[Hernandez] did everything he could. The players aren't working with us."

Seriously, after the fucking debacle that was last years playoffs where more than a few games were decided on totally blown calls, no umpire in the entire MLB should be opening his mouth about anything. Joe West has absolutely positively no right whatsoever to bitch about the two best teams in the god damn sport having classic duels. I hope Joe West gets heckled to death every time he steps into Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park. What a douche bag. That guy has some fucking balls to bitch about players taking pitches and trying to paint the corners when his god damn crew blew at least two or three different plays in this series, and will blow at least 100 more calls throughout the season. Not to mention, fucking Joe West's strike zone was the size of his god damn dick through out the series, which he hasn't seen in at least twenty years. So Joe West do me a favor, shut the fuck up you fat fuck.

"The cleanest hustler in the game" coming at you live from GoomRadio...

"Rapper Sam Adams (a verrrry distant relative of John Quincy Adams) hails from Boston and he stopped by the Earrly Show with Will 2 Be today. Sammy discussed his influences and how he got started in the music biz. He also talked about college life and the kinds of extracurricular activities he enjoys. Finally, Sam treated us with some freestyle verses and dismissed any claims that he's "pop".
Goom Radio catching up with Sam Adams speaking on his recent 9 month pregnancy explosion into the game.  Sam spits some sick freestyle's starting at about the 7 minute mark, tossin' in some rhymes about haters, scam adams, paul pierce, etc.

"Coast to Coast" Lyrics- Sam Adams

“Coast To Coast” Lyrics
Sam Adams

Sammy Adams
Coast to Coast

Lifestyle switchin’
The illest up in the business
I’m hoping to make a killin’
Get at me, get at me
Goin’ coast to coast,
Goin’ coast to coast we goin’
Coast to coast
Coast to coast

I’m not being mean, just being me
Costa, Sinatra get on my team
Girls see me say OMG
He’s back on flights going overseas
Not rich but a spot to be
Got a new balance and my swagger cheese
Rather be in Ack with a pound of trees
Never been down and you cannot see
Girl problems, you think you have some?
Hit the beach you, won’t have none
Big dreams here, you know Platinum
Checks never deposit just cash ‘em
Summertime 888 Vodka
Goin out with my boys lookin proper
Used to be at the bottom with the other lobsters
Now I’m in the sky like birds and helicopters

Lifestyle switchin’
The illest up in the business
I’m hoping to make a killin’
Get at me, get at me
Goin’ coast to coast,
Goin’ coast to coast we goin’
Coast to coast
Coast to coast

On flights traveling to play songs
Two things iPod and my Dre’s on
Two things on my mind at the same time
Gotta go both coasts on the same song
Gotta kill shit
No limit
I spit my heart out cause it’s in it
And the bridge is, the beginnin’
Yeah, something like keys to my ignition
Come fly, yeah get a boarding pass
Too busy all day can’t go to class
Still getting good grades know I’m gonna pass
Hit the West coast, I’m leaving Mass
Domestic, I got a press kit
Side life every girl’s impressed with
Girls frontin’ like they wont have sex with me?
Haha, yeah right!

(Repeat x2)
Lifestyle switchin’
The illest up in the business
I’m hoping to make a killin’
Get at me, get at me
Goin’ coast to coast,
Goin’ coast to coast we goin’
Coast to coast
Coast to coast

Sammy Adams
Catch me in Boston, Miami, LA, San Diego, Tokyo
Yeah, it’s the new shit
Coast to Coast
Cause that’s where we be

"Coast to Coast"- Sam Adams

The only reason I'm posting this is because it is trailing "Driving Me Crazy" on Youtube by about 60,000 hits. This song deserves a lot more respect so if you haven't copped it already, go chump the $6.99 on itunes for the entire EP or if you've got sand in your V then at least go buy this one for $.99.

"Scam Adams" Rumors Are Complete Bonkers

"Sam Adams week is officially over here @ JumpTheTurnstyle.. and more than likely, so is his career.
Scam Adams, rather Sam Adams’ recent rise to overnight super stardom and #1 iTunes hip hop debut is a complete farce. That’s right.. dude is a fraud of epic trustfundian proportions.
In a stunning turn of events, multiple music industry insiders, including the head of a major independent record label, an employee at iTunes, and an industry source at a major digital distributor (who have all asked to remain anonymous) have confirmed the following allegations to be true; close to 75,000 downloads of Sam Adams iTunes debut were charged to a single credit card. That’s right – Sam Adams has used the age-old industry trick of record buy backs to blow up. Meaning, young Scammy has his people downloading his record to boost his sales numbers – and in turn, push his debut to #1 on iTunes hip hop charts.
Scam Adams iTunes debut has been baffling to all levels of the music industry, from artists to executives. No one could seem to understand how a complete unknown with no major label backing could chart #1. Last week no one knew the Trinity educated, silver spoon fed, captain of a division III soccer team college boy — and seemingly overnight, with multiple features on JumpTheTurnstyle  and a fraudulent boosted iTunes debut.. Sam Adams became the biggest name in hip hop.
Now it’s all over. Scam Adams is fake. His people manufactured his entire career.. and he got caught out.
R.I.P. SAM ADAMS."
With several rumors floating around the media about how Sam Adams' personal wallet was responsible for his recent launch to the top of iTunes charts, there has been no concrete evidence or financial statements released to back such an artificial statement.  It is evident that the media can't stomach the fact that a 22-year old college soccer star from Cambridge rattled the industry.  I agree, it seems like a completely fictitious tale, but in reality it's quite the inspirational novel.  Boston's rappers are rare enough, but for a white boy from the bean to top that charts?  Seems pretty preposterous, or does it?

In order to buy $75,000 worth of you're own music you would have to be lacking some elementary education.  Clearly Sam is not, as he is months away from graduating from Trinity College, which alone a rarity in the hip-hop industry.  iTunes shares the profit with the artists as well as the record label for each sale that is completed through the iTunes store.  iTunes collects approximately $.35-$.40 on each song from an independent label (Sam released the EP under, 1st Round Records, an independent label). If Sam did indeed purchase $75,000 worth of his own music on iTunes, he would have lost between $26,000-$30,000.  Seems like the kind of cash an unsigned college student has lying around to blow right?

There is absolutely no way Sam Adams had the funds or practiced the stupidity to pull off the ludicrous move that the media is suggesting.  Haters can huff a thick dong while they witness a white boy from Cambridge, MA dominate the charts.
"What up haters I'm back so how's my dick taste?
I'm spittin grimy like months without tooth paste"

Was Seal At Harpers Ferry Boston?

A Freshy Fanatic sent me this picture on the right asking if Seal was at Harpers Ferry in Boston for a Sublime Tribute band show.  I can't see even a glipse of contrasting features that might lead me to believe it wasn't him.  Same nose, same face, same creepy look in his eyes.  Someone please give me some confirmation Seal was creepin' in the Bean.

Nomar Comes Home to Boston, Retires with the Red Sox

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Longtime Boston Red Sox shortstop Nomar Garciaparra retired from baseball on Wednesday morning, signing a one-day contract with the Red Sox in order to retire as a member of the team.

"I've always had a recurring dream, to be able to retire in a Red Sox uniform. But to be able to have that dream come true, I really just can't put into words because of what this organization has always meant to me, meant to my family, the fans. I always tell people Red Sox Nation is bigger than any nation out there, and to be able to tell people that I came back home to be back to Red Sox Nation is truly a thrill."

One of the greatest and most popular Red Sox of all time comes home to retire in the city where he made his name. Ever since he was traded away, there’s been a revolving door of mediocre shortstops for the Sox. And although it can’t be ignored that his trade sparked the Sox to their first World Series in 86 years, it would have been fitting if he was around to experience it.

Always a fan favorite, Nomar was one of the best hitters in Red Sox history, and easily the best shortstop. Kids all around New England mimicked his bizarre habits in the batter’s box. He brought energy and hustle to the field every night, and he was just fun to watch play. In his 9 years with the Sox, he hit .323, with 178 homers and 690 RBI. He won the AL Rookie of the Year in 1997, as well as consecutive batting titles in 1999 and 2000.

There are conflicting beliefs as to what really happened when Nomar was traded away in 2004. Some people (mostly media) believe he faked an injury and quit on the team. This theory gained steam during the game against the Yankees in 2004, when Derek Jeter “heroically” dove into the stands to catch a foul ball, and those Yankee-loving assholes at FOX panned into the Red Sox dugout to get a shot of Nomar sitting on the bench, unable (or seemingly unwilling) to play. Other people believe that he was forced out of town by the new ownership group, by the combination of an alleged smear campaign and the attempted trade for Alex Rodriguez. I tend to believe the latter theory, after seeing what has happened to some other Sox players in recent years.

Despite all this, it is a great story that Nomar has come home to Boston to retire. He was, and still is, beloved and appreciated by Red Sox Nation. (Just look at the reaction he got when he returned to Fenway with the Athletics. Almost brought tears to my eyes). The Red Sox organization has done what’s right by bringing Nomar back to Boston to retire. Hopefully, they continue down the right path and waive the strict requirements for retiring jersey numbers. His number 5 absolutely belongs on the right field façade at Fenway Park.

Mini Fenway Set For Fort Myers, FL in 2012

BoSox Makin' Moves

"Red Sox players and fans should feel right at home in the new spring training facility in Fort Myers, Fla., which is expected to open in 2012.
Preliminary architectural renderings of the state-of-the-art complex were unveiled Thursday, and it’s clear the design team had Fenway Park in mind. Some defining characteristics of the team’s 98-year-old home in Boston are included in the Florida facility, including a “Green Monster” in left field that has seating atop the wall and manual green scoreboard below; the same irregular field dimensions, with Fenway-like nooks and crannies; and bullpens located beyond the outfield wall. In addition, a Yawkey Way type of street positioned south of the ballpark on the complex grounds will create a concourse similar to Yawkey Way, where street venders and entertainers cater to fans.
The state-of-the-art training complex on the site -- including a main ballpark, six practice fields, and adjoining facilities for both Major and Minor League operations -- will be used year-round. Grass parking lots will double as public soccer fields when games aren’t being played.
“This is an incredibly exciting step in bringing ‘Fenway Park South’ to Southwest Florida,” said Jonathan Gilula, Red Sox executive vice president/business affairs.
The facility, which is pegged to cost around $75 million, had been scaled down recently due to increased construction costs. The original plan had 1,000 more seats in the main ballpark, another practice field, more luxury suites, and larger clubhouses."
Being a fan who has visited the Red Sox in Fort Myers for several years, this news is a Slam-Ma-Jamma! Fenways 100 year anniversary in 2012, count me in for Fort Myers!

KryptoNate Coming to Boston

"LOS ANGELES -- The Celtics have acquired Nate Robinson and Marcus Landry from the New York Knicks in exchange for Eddie House, Bill Walker and J.R. Giddens, who were thrown into the deal to match salaries.
The Celtics are waiting for NBA approval and the deal may not be announced until later this afternoon.
Robinson, a high-flying sparkplug guard, has been coveted by the Celtics for months and is expected to give the Celtics scoring bunch off the bench and a legitimate backup to Rajon Rondo. Robinson averaged 13.2 points and 3.7 assists in 30 games with New York, spending most of the season being banished by coach Mike D'Antoni.
Robinson earns $4 million this season but since he was a base-year compensation player (which prevents teams from signing unwanted players just to trade them for equal value the same season), his contract was worth just $2 million on a salary cap, forcing the Celtics and Knicks to add other players to make the transaction work."
KryptoNate is certainly no Monte Ellis or Kevin Martin, but at least we already know he balls hard in green.  On a side note, we still leave Sugar Ray with a chance to catch fire NBA Jam style and carry our asses to banner 18.  On an even sider note, the chance I go see a Maine Red Claws game is absolutely shot now that Billy Walker and J.R. Giddens are headed to the big apple.

Rate Todays "Daily Drunk"...

Starting this week, we will be featuring "Daily Drunks" to represent the drunkest of the drunk (celebrities, friends, foes, honey dips, etc).  I'm going to need some assistance to keep pumping out drunken fools, so please email all submissions to Señor Fresh.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I was down in Boston this past weekend, fist pumping my way from club to club, before I planted at the Kells late night to find this drunken fool "dancing". I wish I could say I didn't know him, but unfortunately that would be a lie. I've seen this kid attempt to dance blacked out numerous times and I'm curious as to what strangers think of it. My guess would be he is seen as a stage 5 creeper trying to smush everyone and everything he lays his eyes on, but i'll leave the judging to the viewers.

Which will this kid land first: A punch to the dome piece or a HB10 (Hot Babe scaled on 1-10 hotness meter)?

Please rate and leave comments in Comment Section below...

DJ Pauly D Planting His Turntables In Boston?

"Season two of "Jersey Shore" might be looking for a new locale, but we know Pauly D will be spending part of his summer in good ol' Boston.
Pauly D's got a new gig spinning at a club in Beantown called Royale. The club opens next month in the space that used to be the Roxy and is said to be the biggest club in all of Boston.
We're told Pauly, who is from nearby Rhode Island, will start up in May with the hope that things go well and the gig will turn into a more permanent (and lucrative one). Famous DJs like Paul Oakenfeld and David Guetta are expected to land gigs there as well.
Dave Ralph, a management consultant for the club, tells TMZ they are looking to bring a Miami feel to Boston -- and apparently a guido feel as well."

Well thank God for this news.  I have been debating whether or not I'm going to make the big move into the Bean this summer.  I keep telling myself I'm not moving unless I find a new job...one that requires my expensive college degree, blah blah blah.  Thank God for Pauly D right?  He's gotta be one of the most clutch reality TV stars of all time.  Since the finale of season one he has been touching lives all across America.  Spinning on the reg, DJPD knows how to keep it true to his character.  If this club manages to give Boston a "Miami feel" I don't see how season 3 could be anywhere but Boston.  GTL bitches, cya this summer at Royale.

P.S. I just realized this place is hiring...maybe I could kill 2 birds with one stone...
